The Art of Community

On 1st February, myself and Clare were very humbled to witness so many friends and students turn up to help revamp the dojo. We cannot thank everyone enough for dedicating their time on a weekend to help. The sense of community at Kaizen really is something special.

Below are some images from throughout the day.

Due to the hard work of everyone involved, Dojo 1 has a new fresh look. A huge thank you also goes out to Paige Hardwick for providing everyone with delicious pizza’s from ‘Against The Grain’.

Unfortunately we could not do all the improvements to the premises we wanted to straight away, but over the course of this year there will be gradual improvements made.

The month of February has also been a month of growth. Our Junior Self-Defence classes officially started and we had a visit from the Head of the Self-Defence Federation, Dave Turton.

We have also been very pleased to welcome several new additions to the club:

  • L. Giles (Karate)
  • L A. Giles (Karate)
  • I. Tamkin (Karate)
  • G. Keeley (Karate)
  • N. Keeley (Karate)
  • H. Monteiro (Karate)
  • L. Barker (Self-Defence)
  • T. Moorhead (Self-Defence)
  • P. Hunt (Self-Defence)

Additionally, it was a huge pleasure to welcome back 3 Dan Grades to Kaizen Martial Arts Academy. These were Ethan O’Connell, Tobias Reece & James Isaacs. Their many years of experience will be of great benefit to the students as we move forward together.
